Enrollment Rules, Regulations, Policies
- Places on a Staar Academy Course are strictly on a first come first served basis. Fees have to be paid at the beginning of each month. Key tags will be provided shortly to enable students to scan and enter the class. Please make sure you do not lose the tags. Parents who have enrolled their children kindly make sure they do not lose the tags. Replacement of the tag will cost $10.
- All enrollments will only be accepted in the in the first week of the course. No Enrollments under any circumstances will be accepted in the second week of the course. We advise you to send in your enrollment form with full payment as early as possible to avoid disappointment as there is considerable waiting list for the courses.
- Your place is confirmed (Subject to availability) on a course when we receive a completed enrolment form with full payment to the either by cash, debit / credit card. It is advisable to do this by no later than the start of the first lesson to secure your place. All debit / credit card payment applications are confirmed after they have been authorized. Students joining the course late will still be required to pay the full fees.
- We can send confirmation of a place on a course by email, so please provide a valid email address. In the event that a valid email address is not provided, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain confirmation of the start dates of courses.
- Non-payment of entire fees will mean that your place will not be confirmed on the course until such time that the full fees are paid up. This is subject to places being available.
- All forms and payment must be sent/given to the Staar Academy Office, please do not hand them to the teachers since it’s not their responsibility to handle such matters. STAAR Academy will not accept responsibility for forms / payments lost / delayed in the post.
- Please ensure that the enrollment form is completed comprehensively to ensure there is no delay in processing your application and confirming your place.
- Punctuality is important. Please be on time for classes. Students taking lessons must arrive 10 minutes before the start of class. All efforts will be made will be made to start the classes on time even if there are fewer students in the batch. Students arriving to class more than 30 minutes late without prior notification will not be able to join the class due to disruption in teaching and choreography.
- The academy is a strictly no smoking institution, and therefore no students, parents or visitors are allowed to smoke on the premises. Alcohol and eating is also prohibited.
- Please leave any suggestions, concerns, comments in the suggestion box located at the reception. The academy values them and will do its best to address them in a timely manner.
- Any student found displaying bad conduct, disturbing classes, regularly arriving late for class(s) without permission and general misbehavior will not be tolerated. The student will be asked to leave the course and fees will be forfeited.
- The courses, although of a high standard, are offered for recreational and leisure purpose and the Academy are therefore under no obligation to find work for students.
- All students are advised to wear loose clothing and comfortable shoes. Dancing will be taught mainly with bare feet, except with the modeling course, where shoes will be allowed. Pointed high heels will not be allowed. No jewellery such as large / loose earrings, long chains and necklaces are permitted to be worn in class.
- No cameras and video recording equipment are allowed in the classes, except with written permission. All photographs taken by the Academy during the classes are copyright of the academy.
- As the classes are situated in a commercial / residential area, students are asked to attend classes without creating excessive noise outside or causing a nuisance to the neighbors. Parents are requested to ensure that their children are well behaved.
- Shows may be staged in front of a live audience to help build confidence and give students practical experience. If a student does not want to perform on stage, the management / teacher will need to be told in advance.
- Students are not permitted to make any public performance of any dance numbers taught at STAAR Academy without prior written permission from the Academy. Use of any choreography taught by the Academy without such permission will result in immediate dismissal from the course/s, forfeiture of course fees and a payment of a penalty in the sum of $500.00 for unauthorized use of the choreography. Please call 201 653 STAR for a permission form.
- Those students who represent STAAR Academy (Performing at shows,etc.) will not be permitted to represent any other institution without prior consent.
- Chewing gum and candy will not be allowed while the class is in session. Parents are requested to make sure the children do not have them while entering the studio (If the student is a minor)
- CELL PHONES MUST BE TURNED OFF DURING CLASS HOURS.
- Parents waiting outside the dance studio must have their cell phones in silent/vibrate mode so that the students are not disturbed.
- Kindly be polite and courteous to others. Please respect those around you and the facility being utilized.
- Family and friends are allowed to view only for the final 10 minutes of the class. Please bear in mind that the other children tend to get distracted when parents or other adults are around. We want to ensure smooth functioning of the class and all efforts will be made sure that the students are not disturbed.
- Any promotions / special offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.
- STAAR Academy reserves the right of admission and to alter times and dates of classes. If any classes are cancelled/rearranged due to circumstances beyond our control, the lost time will be made up or appropriate reduction in fee paid given. If a teacher is not available on any occasion every endeavor will be made to provide another teacher/trainee.
- It is the responsibility of all students to communicate to the office any changes in their personal details or any other details. Please do not communicate any of these changes to the teachers, as they will not be in a position to deal with such matters.
- Only students whose names are on the registers will be allowed to participate in the class. Individuals who are not on the registers will be asked to leave.
- No parents / visitors are allowed to sit in the class whilst the class is being conducted except the parents whose children are attending the 4-7 year age class.
- Students are kindly asked to wait outside the class and they should only enter the class when their class is due to commence.
- Parents / Guardians coming to collect their children are kindly asked to wait outside patiently until the class finishes.
- STAAR ACADEMY accepts no responsibility for any accident, loss or injury sustained by any person on their property.
- Before beginning any of the courses offered, it is advisable to obtain the approval of your doctor. These courses are for people of all ages in good health.
- Classes missed by the student will not be compensated for another class, except those cancelled by Staar Academy or in the event of the student’s medical emergency. Staar Academy reserves the right to cancel a particular class or batch at their discretion.
